Our Profile
: The Indo-Japan Welfare and Cultural Association (IJWCA), located
in a posh
locality of Kolkata (Calcutta), with its own three two-storied
buildings inherited from the
Seaman's Employment Center of Japan for promoting cultural relations
between India and
Japan and also for the welfare of the Indian people.
Our Sub-organizations,
which are directly supported by us:
1) The Centre of Japanese Studies
2) The Indo-Japan Language Studies Society
Our Associate Organizations:
1) Ikenobo Calcutta Chapter of the Ikenobo Floral Art Society,
Kyoto.
2) Eastern India Japanese Language Teachers' Association.
3) Bharat-Nippon Maitree Sangha (India-Japan friendship society).
Our Main Activities:
1) Japanese Language Teaching.
2) Teaching Japanology (Japan's Cultural History for general
students
and research students for Ph.D. of any university).
3) Extending library / Reading Room facilities to the Japanese
language course
students and persons interested in Japan.
4) Holding Cultural functions either independently or in association
with the
Consulate-General of Japan.
5) We are the host organization for holding Japanese Language
Proficiency Test
(Noryoku shiken) from 1998.for eastern India.
6) Eastern India Japanese Language Speech Contest.
7) Hosting Seminars on Japanese Language Teaching sponsored by The
Japan Foundation
and supported by the Consulate-General of Japan.
8) Holding different other functions - Japanese language and
culture-oriented ones.
9) For the first time in India, we organized "Japanese Language
Prose Reading Contest"
(Eastern India).
Our Japanese
Language Courses:
Beginners and other higher courses :
Januuary to June & (Admission closes in
December)
From July to December (Admission closes
in June)
We provide audio-visual facilities and Tape Listening facilities
(for Chookai of JLPT).
We also hold special coaching for preparations for JLPT.
Special intensive or crash courses are provided for individuals or
small group/s on request.
Ikebana, Origami and Japanology classes can be held any time of the
year if students request.

D.N.Bakshi Honoured
We
inform all our members and viewers that the Government of
Japan has awarded a MEDAL titled, "The Order of the Sacred
Treasure, Gold and Silver Rays" to Dr. Bakshi.
A letter
dated 3rd November 2009 from Mr. Katsuya Okada, Hon'ble
Minister for Foreign Affairs in this respect reads thus:
